The Perfect Home project investigates the inconspicuous ways the interior decoration industry affects our expectations and perceptions of what constitutes a happy home and thereby a happy life. Offering us an alluring notion of what ideal, happy homes should look like, ubiquitous interior decoration magazines and catalogues promote a surprisingly uniform vision of domestic bliss. Allured by this idea of beautiful, sunny, colourful, clean, perfectly coordinated interiors with happy, good-looking young families, we end up dissatisfied with the lives we live in our own homes that are unable to live up to the false expectations set by these unreal spaces.
